National Livestock Exhibition in Poland cancelled due to the threat of diseases

The XXXI National Breeding Animals Exhibition, scheduled for May, will not take place this year. The decision to cancel it was made by Agriculture Minister Czeslaw Siekierski due to the threat of infectious animal diseases, the exhibition's website reported.

[…] kindly inform you that Mr. Czeslaw Siekierski Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development has decided to cancel the event this year. The decision is dictated by the current epizootic situation, resulting, among other things, from the finding of the first case of foot-and-mouth disease in Germany in 37 years and the occurrence of outbreaks of bluetongue disease on Polish territory, as well as breeders' concerns about further unfavorable development of the epizootic situation

At the end of January, the cancellation of the event as well as regional exhibitions was called for by, among others, the Polish Federation of Cattle Breeders and Milk Producers.

Therefore, taking into account the position of breeders and prioritizing the welfare of breeders, the protection of animals and minimizing the risk of the occurrence and spread of infectious animal diseases, the Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development has decided to cancel the 2025 National Livestock Exhibition

The XXXI National Breeding Animals Exhibition, was scheduled for May 9-11, 2025 in Poznań on the grounds of the Poznań International Fair. The first National Breeding Animals Exhibition was held in August 1985, on the grounds of the Służewiec Racecourse in Warsaw. The event was held in the capital for 15 years.
