Approved procedure for the import of seeds and planting materials to Ukraine
The Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine approved the procedure for import of seeds and propagation material not registered in Ukraine
The government of Ukraine adopted Resolution No. 964, which defines the procedure for importing into the territory of Ukraine seeds and planting material that are not in the Register of Plant Varieties of Ukraine, but are included in the List of Plant Varieties of the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development for those certification schemes which Ukraine has joined, The document was prepared by the Ministry of Agrarian Policy and Food of Ukraine.
The resolution was adopted in accordance with Ukraine's fulfillment of international obligations to ensure compliance with the Seed Schemes of the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD).
Ukraine participates in the following OECD seed schemes:
grasses and legumes, crucifers and other oil or fibre species, cereals, beet, sorghum, maize.
The document approves the conditions and procedures for importing seeds and planting material of the variety, in particular:
· confirmation of information about the variety contained in the List of Plant Varieties of the OECD, those agricultural plants to which Ukraine has joined the variety certification schemes. Obtaining consent from the competent authority of the country of registration of the variety for seed propagation;
import into the territory of Ukraine of seeds and planting material of a variety not entered into the State Register of Plant Varieties Suitable for Distribution, but entered into the List of Plant Varieties of the OECD, of those agricultural plants to which Ukraine has joined variety certification schemes, their propagation and export outside the country .
Ensuring the implementation of the requirements of the Order is entrusted to the Ministry of Agrarian Policy.

Previous Resolution of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine No. 762 of 2016, which regulated the Procedure for importing into the territory of Ukraine and exporting unregistered seeds and planting material, was recognized by the Cabinet of Ministers as having lost its validity.
