The farm is located in a restricted area (area defined in part II of the Annex to EC Decision 2014/709/EU), where previously ASF in wild boars was noted.
The 19th outbreak of ASF
in Poland in 2020, was confirmed on the basis of the results of tests obtained from the national reference laboratory for ASF, on a farm where 26 pigs (13 weaners, 9 fatteners, 3 sows and 1 boar) were kept, located in Bukwałd, in the Dywity commune, in the Olsztyn district, in the Warminsko-Mazurskie province.

The 20th outbreak of ASF
in Poland in 2020, was confirmed on the basis of the results of tests obtained from the national reference laboratory for ASF, on a farm where 1960 pigs (weaners) were kept, located in the town of Smoryń, in the Frampol commune, in the Biłgoraj district, in the Lubelskie province.
The farm is located in a hazard area (area defined in part III of the Annex to EC Decision 2014/709/EU), where previously ASF both in wild boars and in pig farms was noted.

In 2020, ASF infection in pig herds was noted in 7 provinces: Lubuskie, Wielkopolskie, Lubelskie, Dolnośląskie, Warmińsko-Mazurskie, Podkarpackie and now Mazowieckie. In the last two weeks new outbreaks of the disease have been recorded practically every day in different regions of the country.
Outbreak no. 18 is the first infection in pigs in Mazowieckie province. After a year, the disease returned to this region. In July 2019, outbreaks were recorded westward from the current outbreak, the closest was located in a distance of approx. 14 km. Until this day, the ASF hazard zone is maintained in the nearby and the new outbreak will postpone the lifting the pig movement restrictions in the area.
Outbreak no. 19 is the 4th ASF infection in pig farm in Warmińsko-Mazurskie province.
Outbreak no. 20 is the seventh outbreak in a cluster in two neighbouring communes in Lubelskie province. It is 4th commercial pig farm infected with ASF virus in the area.
It is worth recalling that last year, 35 357 pigs died or were culled as a result of disease or elimination of 48 outbreaks. This year, app. 41 780 pigs have been eliminated in 20 outbreaks.
