New ASF infections in pig in eastern Poland
Two new outbreaks of ASF in pig herds were confirmed in Lubelskie province, in the eastern Poland. In total 7 outbreaks were noted in this region this year, 5 of them in one cluster.
The Chief Veterinary Officer informed about the designation of 2 outbreaks of African swine fever (ASF) in pigs in the territory of the Republic of Poland.
The 13th outbreak of ASF
in Poland in 2020, was confirmed on the basis of the results of tests obtained from the national reference laboratory for ASF, on a farm where 22 pigs (fattening pigs) were kept, located in the town of Rzeczyce, in the Frampol commune, in the Biłgoraj district, in the Lubelskie province.
The farm is located in a hazard area (area defined in part III of the Annex to EC Decision 2014/709/EU), where previously ASF both in wild boars and in pig farms was noted. The area is additionally covered by surveillance zone, as defined in Council Directive 2002/60/EC, established in connection with earlier outbreaks in the Biłgoraj district.
The 14th outbreak of ASF
in Poland in 2020, was confirmed on the basis of the results of tests obtained from the national reference laboratory for ASF, on a farm where 69 pigs (35 piglets, 21 fattening pigs, 12 sows and 1 boar) were kept, located in Teodorówka Kolonia, in the Frampol commune, in the Biłgoraj district, in the Lubelskie province.
The farm is located in a hazard area (area defined in part III of the Annex to EC Decision 2014/709/EU), where previously ASF both in wild boars and in pig farms was noted. The area is additionally covered by surveillance zone, as defined in Council Directive 2002/60/EC, established in connection with earlier outbreaks in the Biłgoraj district.
On all the farms where the ASF outbreaks were designated, procedures related to the eradication of the disease were implemented.
