The forum aims to address food security issues, trade in agricultural products, and solutions to logistical challenges for landlocked developing countries. During the opening ceremony, speeches were delivered by Uzbekistan’s Prime Minister Abdulla Aripov, FAO Director-General Qu Dongyu, and UN representatives.

In his address, Prime Minister Abdulla Aripov highlighted the agricultural reforms in Uzbekistan initiated by President Shavkat Mirziyoyev. The reduction of cotton and wheat fields has led to increased food production, while the implementation of advanced technologies has boosted crop yields and reduced water consumption.

It was also noted that Uzbekistan is implementing a strategy for agricultural development through 2030, aiming to double food production and triple export volumes and value-added products.

The export of fruits, vegetables, and other food products has doubled compared to 2017, reaching $2 billion. Furthermore, Uzbekistan's food security has significantly improved in international indices.

In 2023, Uzbekistan ranked 21st in the Global Hunger Index, reflecting the country's progress in ensuring food security and sustainable development.

During the opening ceremony, speakers including Prime Minister Abdulla Aripov, EU Commissioner for Agriculture Janusz Wojciechowski, and President of the International Fund for Agricultural Development Alvaro Larios discussed the impacts of climate change on agriculture, strategies for ensuring food security, and the evolving landscape of agri-food systems.
