On October 23, 2024,  Zeelandia Ukraine – a subsidiary of Royal Zeelandia Group turns 21 years old.

Here are the most interesting facts about Zeelandia Ukraine:

  • The Ukrainian office of "Zeelandia" was the first in the company's history to be a "startup", created "from scratch", and not on the basis of an existing importing company or a joint venture. The first team consisted of 5 employees, and today the team has grown to almost 150 professionals.
  • The parent company Zeelandia (founded in 1900 in the Netherlands) has experienced difficult times, significant historical events, and natural disasters during its more than 100-year journey, but despite all these challenges, the company not only survived, but also prospered becoming a successful international player. Likewise, her daughter, "Zeelandia" in Ukraine, encountered various obstacles on her 21-year journey: the Orange Revolution, the financial crisis of 2008, the Revolution of Dignity, the annexation of Crimea, the war in the East of Ukraine ... Today we are going through times of full scale war. However, all these challenges only harden Zeelandia team, make them stronger and wiser. Despite external challenges, the company continues its development and growth.
  • More than 70% of the entire bakery and confectionery assortment in Ukraine is produced at the production facilities in Ukraine.
  • The production is certified according to FSSC. The enterprise is equipped with its own laboratories, which are equipped with modern unique equipment that controls the quality of incoming raw materials and finished products. Since food safety is the main priority for the company, that cooperates only with reliable suppliers of raw materials.
  • In Ukraine, Zeelandia has 2 unique factories: the production of chocolate, chocolate and confectionery glazes, and chocolate fillings, as well as equipment for applying anti-adhesive products on molds.
  • The company adheres to the Strategy of Sustainable Development. Modern methods of storing raw materials and finished products have been installed at the production facility - silos have been installed for bulk storage of oil and sugar. The factory recirculates hot water vapor during production processes, which mitigates the impact on climate change. The enterprise is equipped with solar panels for efficient and ecological energy consumption.
  • Another approach in the Strategy of Sustainable Development, for  Zeelandia group and Zeelandia in Ukraine, is Better for the health and well-being of the consumer. "Zeelandia" strives to produce not only tasty products, but also useful for the health of the consumer. Therefore, in the product portfolio you will find products based on chia seeds, quinoa, rye, which are sources of vitamins and minerals, as well as products with a reduced sugar content, and even Trinidad chocolate without sugar.
  • Better for the manufacturer, Zeelandia has many years of experience in optimizing and managing delayed baking technologies (freezing technologies), allowing bakers to optimize interrupted processes and improve the quality of the final baked product; and technologies that ensure the softness and freshness of bakery products throughout the entire shelf life.
  • The company has formed a powerful team of technological support for clients: operational technological support for clients is available in every region. Every year, the technologists conduct more than 800 visits to Clients and more than 50 individual and group seminars. In total, the technologists spend approximately 296 nights a year on business trips.
  • On a national scale, the company directly cooperate with manufacturers of bakery and confectionery products. Zeelandia sales team works in every region of Ukraine.
  • For 20 years, "Zeelandia" in Ukraine has entered the top 5 most profitable companies in the Zeelandia group.

The charity is very important for Zeelandia Ukraine

As part of the Charter activity, the company actively supports and develops projects for the support and development of people with Down syndrome and other intellectual disabilities, creating conditions for their education, social adaptation and employment.

The result of such support was: the educational project Perspective 21.3 (https://perspectiva21-3.org/en/ )  under the auspices of the All-Ukrainian charitable organization "Down Syndrome"; creation of the Charity organization "Perspective 21.3", which protects the interests of people with mental disabilities. Charity Organization Perspective 21.3 focuses on people with intellectual disabilities aged 18+ and their adaptation to adulthood, meaningful daily activities, professional employment and independent living.

Other projects: Bakery 21.3 (https://bakery21-3.com/ ) and Cafe 21.3 (https://cafe21-3.ps.me/ ), located in Brovary, Kyiv region, - II stage of the Perspective 21.3 project, aimed at employment, social and labor adaptation of young people with intellectual disabilities. A Center was built near Cafe 21.3, where young people with special needs will learn how to adapt to independent living.

Bake4Ukraine

From the first days of the full-scale invasion, the humanitarian project Bake4Ukraine was launched. https://www.zeelandia.ua/bake4ukraine During the first 58 days of the war at the base of Zeelandia and Bakery 21.3  the company team with local volunteers baked fresh bread and cooked soup to provide food to local residents of Brovary and neighbourhood: single and elderly people, people with disabilities, large families, hospitals, rehabilitation centers and defenders who fought against Russian invaders. Today, Bake4Ukraine focuses on attracting international resources to restore war-damaged bakeries and support newly created bakeries that will ensure food security in their territorial communities.
