The discussion will be focused on the critical importance of the arrangement for the resilience of Ukraine’s economy as well as benefits it could bring to the EU consumers and processing industries.

With the duty-free trade regime between Ukraine and the EU set to end on June 5, 2025, the potential reintroduction of tariff quotas and import duties under the 2021 Association Agreement (AA) poses significant risks:

  •  Up to €3.3 billion loss in foreign exchange earnings
  •  2.52% decline in Ukraine’s GDP
  •  7.7% drop in agricultural production

The provision of the liberalised access of Ukrainian agri-food products to the EU market is vital for safeguarding Ukraine’s export potential, sustaining economic recovery, and ensuring stability within the macro-financial sphere.

 Key issues for discussion:

  •  Current status of the duty-free trade regime with the EU and ongoing negotiations
  •  Impact of ATMs expiry without a backstop plan on the agricultural sector and overall economy
  •  Position and proposals of the Ukrainian agribusiness community on the future trade arrangement with the EU
  •  Adaptation strategies and long-term perspectives for Ukraine-EU trade relations
