UKRAINIAN AGRARIAN SECTOR PRODUCES 17% OF GDP, EXPORTS 70% OF AGRI PRODUCTS - AGRARIAN MINISTRY
KYIV. Aug 27 (Interfax-Ukraine) - The Ukrainian agricultural sector in 2010-2021 made a significant leap in development, it employs 17% of Ukrainians who produce 19% of GDP, while 70% of products are exported, which is one of the highest rates in Europe, said Acting Minister of Agrarian Policy and Food Taras Vysotsky.
According to him, Ukrainian products are enough to feed about 400 million people.
"Ukraine's role in international food security is very important. After the full-scale invasion by the aggressor country, Ukraine could not export products for four months. This led to the fact that the global food price index in the world in 2022 increased by 35%. In African countries, hundreds of millions of people were forced to significantly reduce food consumption," he said at the national educational and professional course for youth on the path to restoring the state.
Vysotsky drew attention to the fact that Ukraine traditionally exports grain and oilseeds and much more. In particular, Ukraine ranks fourth in the world in corn exports, first in sunflower oil. In addition, it ranks seventh in poultry exports. Ukrainian dairy producers are among the top ten leaders in butter exports. In addition, Ukraine ranks fourth in walnut production and is one of the world leaders in honey exports.
