Mexican agri-food exports show a new record
With a total of 14,085 million dollars Mexico's agri-food exports reached a new maximum in the first quarter of 2024.
An increase in the Mexican trade balance
In the accumulated period from January to March 2024, an increase in exports was recorded, this is mainly a result of the strong international demand for products such as beer, berries and avocado. Total exports of the sector increased by 6.3% compared to the same period of 2023. The value of imports of the Mexican agri-food sector was 10,927 million dollars, showing a drop of 0.6% compared to the accumulated figure of March 2023. Mexico has a good performance in agri-food trade, and reports a surplus of 3,158 million dollars (39.5%).
Beer, berries, avocados and tomatoes
The product with the greatest export, considering the accumulated from March 2023 to March 2024, is beer with a value of 1,424 million dollars. This represents a 7.8% increase. In second place are berries with sales abroad of 1,403 million dollars, showing an increase of 11.2%. Avocadoes are placed in third position with 985 million dollars and a growth of 19.6 percent. Despite a decrease of 4.9%, with 876 million dollars, tomato is in fourth place.
