Mexico extends quota for duty-free pork meat imports
In June 2021, Mexican authorities established duty-free quotas for 10.000 tons of (fresh, chilled and frozen) pork.. With these duty-free quotas, Mexico aimed at increasing competiveness and keeping pork meat prices affordable for Mexican households. A quota that was supposed to last until December 31st 2021 has now been extended till June 30th 2022.
Mexico’s Government has extended the duty-free quota on pork carcass, half carcass, legs, shoulders and boneless pieces (tariff codes 0203.11.01, 0203.12.01, 0203.19.99, 0203.21.01, 0203.22.01 and 0203.29.99) until June 30th 2022. The certificate of quota allocation will be expedited three working days after the Mexican importer has submitted the required paperwork to the Ministry of Economy, and will be valid for 60 days or until June 30th, (whichever date happens first)
