NISCOPS in Sarawak, Malaysia

On 15th August 2022, the Deputy Head of Mission Mrs. Eva Oskam from the Embassy of Netherlands in Malaysia,  together with Agriculture Advisor  Ms. Li Huan Hoh visited the Sungai Keranji Baruh smallholders in Serian, Sarawak.

The head of the longhouse, Mr. Bakat ak Mundar, and the entire village warmly received the Dutch delegation’s courtesy visit to the site. The purpose of the visit was to have an impression and to learn the methods and challenges of the implementation activities conducted by Solidaridad Network Malaysia on the ground for the National Initiatives for Sustainable and Climate-Smart Oil Palm Smallholders (NI-SCOPS) Programme.

The NI-SCOPS initiative is a programme that has been developed in Malaysia, Indonesia, Nigeria and Ghana which aims to increase farmers productivity, sustainability and livelihood while supporting deforestation free palm oil production by smallholders.

The participants, which are the smallholders of the Sungai Keranji Baruh expressed their thanks and appreciation  on the guidance received in adopting good agricultural practices in order to improve their sustainability and climate change adaptive capacities.
