Kazakhstan's Kyzylorda region develops horticulture using drip irrigation
Governor of the Kyzylorda region Nurlybek Nalibaev, together with deputy of the Senate of the Parliament of Kazakhstan Ruslan Rustemov, made a working trip to the Zhanakorgan district, where he got acquainted with the work of the reservoir in the village of Kyrash and the apple orchard of the Qaratau Fruits farm.
The capacity of the reservoir, built in 1930, is 2.5 million cubic metres, the volume of water is 2.4 million cubic metres, the condition of the facility is satisfactory. There is a total of 7 reservoirs in the region, the design volume of which is 7.9 million cubic metres.
The cost of the Qaratau Fruits apple orchard project is 3.3 million euro: 65 thousand apple tree seedlings were planted on 50 hectares using the classical method, and on another 30 hectares 75 thousand seedlings using the intensive method (drip irrigation).
The required 250 kV transformer has been installed on the farm and a 6.5 km power line has been laid. Two wells with a depth of 60 and 30 metres were dug in the garden. 50 cubic metres of water per hour are filled into a pool equipped with a 100x100 biomembrane, 4.5 metres deep, and supplied by drip to the apple trees. This year the harvest is expected to be 50 tonnes per hectare.
In the next two years, they plan to build a warehouse to store 3,400 tonnes of fruits and 1,600 tonnes of vegetables. The cost of the project will approximately be a total sum of 5.2 million euros.
