Kazakhstan: Agricultural Embassy Group in Central-Asia established
On the initiative of the Embassy of the United States of America and the Embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands in Astana Kazakhstan an Agricultural Embassy Group for the whole Central-Asian region was founded.
The inaugural event took place at 19 April 2024 at the residence of the Netherlands Ambassador in Astana, Nico Schermers in presence of representatives of a number of countries. During the session the agricultural counsellors from the Netherlands and the United States, Arie Veldhuizen and Lucas Blaustein stated the importance of international cooperation in the field of sustainable food production.
“Through dialogue and cooperation, the newly founded Embassy Group aims to create a more resilient and prosperous agricultural sector in Central Asia. It is expected this initiative has a positive impact on the agricultural landscape in the region”, Veldhuizen and Blaustein stated.
After discussions it was concluded by the just inaugurated members of the group that the role of diplomacy in fostering sustainable agricultural practices can have an added value on the sustainable development of food production systems in CA. And that this initiative can lay the foundation for future collaborations. The establishment of the group signifies a commitment to collaborative efforts in advancing agricultural development, sustainability, and innovation.
