Modified import regulations for agricultural inputs in Iran
Based on the Iranian news media, the government is considering to put all agriculture inputs, including seeds and propagating material in the second tier group of import (NIMA), except for potato and sugar beet seeds.
This means that importers of such products would not anymore receive the subsidized (lower) currency rate provided by the government, which would make inputs more expensive for farmers. Iranian seed companies however expect that the demand for imported seeds for the Iranian market will remain stable. The Embassy has published a factsheet on import regulations in Iran.
