Bulgaria to Export 40 t of Saffron Bulbs to China in 2019
Bulgaria is set to export 40 tonnes of saffron bulbs to China in 2019. This will be followed by 200 tonnes next year and 400 tonnes in 2021, Bulgarian Agriculture, Food and Forestry Minister Roumen Porozhanov told Chinese Ambassador in Sofia Dong Xiaojun when the two conferred here on Thursday, Porozhanov's Ministry said in a press release. The aggregate value of the saffron that will be exported to China is 6.5 million euro.
In his words, this is provided for by a three-year plan for the development of saffron farming in Bulgaria in 2019-2021, drawn up after the Association for the Promotion of Agricultural Cooperation between China and CEE Countries, the Bulgarian National Association of Saffron and Saffron Bio-product Producers and Zhejiang Yangtian Agricultural, Science and Technology Co., Ltd. signed a trilateral agreement.
According to Porozhanov, agriculture is one of the most brilliant highlights of cooperation between Bulgaria and China.
Work is in progress on setting up the first Demonstration Park in support of agricultural cooperation under the 16+1 initiative. The park is intended to support farm trade and organize exhibitions, training courses, conferences and seminars for agricultural and food-processing enterprises.
