Bulgaria, Saudi Arabia Sign Farming Investment Memorandum
Riyadh - Bulgaria and Saudi Arabia signed a memorandum under which a business plan and concrete measures are to be drawn up in the next six months for the creation of a Bulgarian-Saudi state company to work in the area of agriculture, the Bulgarian Agriculture, Food and Forestry Ministry said in a press release Tuesday. The document was signed by Bulgarian Agriculture, Food and Forestry Minister Roumen Porozhanov and Khaled Mohammed Al-Aboodi, Director of the Saudi company for investment in farming and animal breeding Salic.
Porozhanov is in Saudi Arabia at the invitation of the country's Minister of Environment, Water and Agriculture Abdulrahman Bin Abdulmohsen Al Fadhli. Porozhanov and his host held a meeting. Abdulrahman Bin Abdulmohsen Al Fadhli said his country is interested in Bulgarian meat, lamb in particular.
Porozhanov said that the imports by Saudi Arabia of Bulgarian meat can be done provided that direct air service is opened between the two countries, which should take place as soon as possible. Trade in Bulgarian rose products and exchange of veterinary experts were singled out as areas for cooperation.
The two ministers opened the Saudi Agrofood exhibition. Porozhanov is a special guest at the event where Bulgaria participates for the first time with dedicated space. Nine Bulgarian companies: producers of dairy, meat, mineral water, rice, cosmetics, essential oils, honey and canned vegetables, are presented.
