Poland with a good 2024 in poultry production
The Polish poultry market recorded an increase in production in 2024. According to the Polish National Statistical Office over the eleven months of 2024, over 3.2 million tonnes of poultry meat were produced in Poland (in large enterprises), which means a 5% increase year on year.
This increase was possible thanks to:
- Relatively low feed prices, which had a positive impact on the profitability of production.
- Continued high export demand.
- Stable level of domestic consumption.

Dynamic growth of Polish poultry exports in 2024
Preliminary data from the Ministry of Finance confirms the dynamic development of poultry product exports from Poland in 2024. This was contributed to by:
- Price competitiveness: The average price of chickens in Poland in 2024 was approximately 80 euros/100 kg lower than the average in the EU-27.
- Fewer bird flu outbreaks: Thanks to this, export restrictions to non-EU markets were eased.
Over the eleven months of 2024, poultry product exports from Poland reached 2.1 million tons (in carcass equivalent), which means an 8.4% increase year on year. Poland sold 1.4 million tons (up 4%) to the EU market and 0.7 million tons (up 19%) to non-EU markets. The main recipients of Polish poultry meat were:
- Germany: 282 thousand tons (+6%)
- Great Britain: 174 thousand tons (+15%)
- France: 165 thousand tons (+11%)
- Netherlands: 147 thousand tons (-10%)
- Czech Republic: 85 thousand tons (+14%)
Due to high domestic production, poultry import to Poland in the eleven months of 2024 was 9% lower than in the same period of 2023 and amounted to 178 thousand tons.

Broiler chicken prices in 2024 and early 2025
Since February 2024, broiler chicken purchase prices in Poland have been rising, exceeding the PLN 5/kg barrier in mid-July. In the last quarter of 2024, prices remained in a relatively stable range of PLN 5.15–5.23/kg. In the first two weeks of January 2025, the average purchase price was PLN 5.14/kg and was over 10% higher than a year earlier. The price level in 2024 was influenced by both high domestic demand (thanks to the price competitiveness of poultry) and export demand.

Record poultry production in the EU in 2025
The European Union is forecasting a record level of poultry production in 2025. Data from the European Commission indicate that EU production may exceed 14 million tonnes (in carcass equivalent), which would constitute a nearly 1% increase compared to 2024. This optimistic scenario is possible thanks to the smaller number of bird flu outbreaks in 2024, which should facilitate the sale of EU poultry outside the Community's borders this year.
EU poultry exports up in 2024
In the ten months of 2024, EU countries exported a total of around 1.8 million tonnes of poultry products (in carcass equivalent) outside the EU, which is a 10% increase compared to the previous year. The main export destinations were:
- Great Britain: 617 thousand tonnes
- Ghana: 126 thousand tonnes
- Democratic Republic of Congo: 90 thousand tonnes
At the same time, poultry imports to the EU decreased by 2%, to just over 752 thousand tonnes. The largest amount of poultry was imported from:
- Brazil: 231 thousand tonnes
- Ukraine: 169 thousand tonnes tons
- Great Britain: 163 thousand tons
