Plant-based food breakthrough in Poland. Substitutes are no longer “other food”

As the plant industry emphasizes, this decision firstly strengthens the subjectivity of the plant industry in the eyes of public institutions. Second, it enables precise data collection and analysis of the plant sector's impact. Third, it provides a level playing field in discussions about support and regulation - the same as meat and dairy producers.

We have a new classification. Plant-based meat and dairy alternatives are no longer “leftover food.”
Until now, producers of vegetable alternatives to meat and dairy had to use the collective category of production of other foodstuffs. As of January 1, we have a new PKD classification, in which meat and dairy alternatives are included as separate categories. [...] We are taking another, in my opinion quite important, step in the effort to see plant-based food as an important part of a sustainable future for the food industry, but also to be noticed by those in power. At the Polish Association of Producers of Plant-Based Foods, it gives us a platform for our next steps. A good, earned gift for Veganuary
