Dutch Slovensko tulips planted all over Slovakia

The tradition began in 2018, on the occasion of celebrating 25 years of bilateral relations between the Netherlands and Slovakia for which a special variety “Slovensko” was created.

Since then, thousands of special orange tulip bulbs were donated to towns, cities and organisations all over Slovakia, to celebrate the good relations between our countries and to highlight the commitment to sustainability, equality and inclusion.

Orange is the national color of the Netherlands, with its historic link to the royal "House of Orange-Nassau".

In 2024, we continued the tradition of planting the orange tulips in Slovak towns. Next spring, they will bloom to brighten the days for inhabitants and visitors of Banská Bystrica, Bratislava, Košice, Nitra, Prešov, Trenčín, Trnava, Žilina and the garden of the Presidential palace.
