Poland against the Mercosur agreement
Prime Minister Donald Tusk has announced that he will oppose the agreement with Mercosur countries.
The Council of Ministers opposes the results of negotiations with Mercosur so far in the area of agriculture, in particular the increase in tariff quotas for poultry meat at the final stage of the exchange of tariff offers
- the Polish Prime Minister said.
The Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development, Czeslaw Siekierski, who earlier declared I think we will find a group of countries to stop the ratification of the agreement with Mercosur
also addressed the issue.
Siekierski added that Poland's demands were not taken into account when negotiating this agreement [...] In addition, there are no provisions when it comes to the bilateral protection clause for excessive inflows of goods, so that a country can set conditions limiting the inflow of these goods. This is a major threat to the poultry sector .
By the decision of the entire Polish government, Mercosur threatens Polish agriculture and the Polish government unanimously in favor of opposing the signing of the agreement at yesterday's meeting of the Council of Ministers.
