Cote d'Ivoire is becoming of more strategic importance to the EU and the Netherlands. As West Africa's economic powerhouse, boasting consistent growth rates around 7% and a robust macroeconomic outlook, the country serves as a vital gateway to the Sahel and other West African regions.

Several regional organizations have their headquarters in Abidjan such as the African Development Bank (AfDB) and the International Cocoa Organization (ICCO). With two major ports and solid infrastructure, it holds significant potential for trade and investment opportunities.

The EU remains the country's largest trade and investment partner, with the Netherlands serving as the primary importer, particularly due to cocoa and horticulture. In navigating these opportunities, Côte d'Ivoire is increasingly seeking cooperation, co-creation, and mutual growth with the Netherlands. Thus, it is good timing for a strategic public diplomacy tour 2024-2025 combined with a country team visit (consisting of BIS, DDE, DAF, RVO, DVB, LVVN, MinDEF and Invest International) to conduct a mid-term review of the MLS 2023-2026, assess the 2024 annual plan, and begin planning for 2025.

Program:

The program of activities during the caravan was rich and dynamic, featuring a variety of impactful visits and events. Participants began with a visit to Les Vergers du Nord, where they explored mango production in partnership with Koppert West Africa.

This was followed by a tour of the SCARP poultry farmers' cooperative, which collaborates with De Heus – Côte d’Ivoire, showcasing innovations in animal nutrition and supported by the 2SCALE program. Part of the delegation also traveled to Kong to engage in discussions on security issues with Equal Access International and local communities.

The day concluded with the closing ceremony of the Orange Corners Employability pilot program, which successfully enabled 30 young individuals to gain internships in the horticulture sector, contributing to the Orange Corners Côte d'Ivoire ecosystem.

A  cocktail celebrated the exhibition of young artists from Vavoua and Daloa, following a workshop organized by Aida Muluneh Studios, with drinks generously provided by Brassivoire.

The program rounded off with a dinner hosted by the University of Korhogo, fostering connections among the caravan participants and local organizations.
