Kazakhstan's Kostanay region plans to build 14 dairy farms
During a working trip to Kostanay region, President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev said that the state will continue to support domestic farmers and assist in the implementation of effective projects, the Akorda press service reports.
According to Administration of the region Kumar Aksakalov, local farmers have sown 5 million hectares this year. To increase yields, it is planned to increase the share of elite seeds and the amount of mineral fertilisers applied, as well as to upgrade the machine and tractor fleet.
The Head of State was presented with projects on the development of animal husbandry, poultry farming and processing of agricultural products. In particular, investments will be attracted in the next three years to build 14 commercial dairy farms. It is planned to build 44 livestock complexes and two large poultry farms. As a result, milk and meat production in the region will increase by 1.4 times, and poultry meat by five times. In addition, the task has been set to increase the share of processed products to 70% within three years through the implementation of investment projects.
Kassym-Jomart Tokayev noted the importance of timely harvesting of the grown crop, increasing labour productivity and introducing new technologies in the agricultural sector, and rational use of agricultural land.
