Kazakhstan establishes university of water management and irrigation
The Government is taking measures to train personnel for the country's water sector. A new University of Water Management and Irrigation is starting its work in Taraz. The corresponding resolution was signed by the Prime Minister of Kazakhstan Olzhas Bektenov.
In April of this year, at the National Council for Science and Technology under the President of Kazakhstan, Head of State Kassym-Jomart Tokayev instructed to take measures to restore the Taraz Hydro-Reclamation and Construction Institute with appropriate logistical support.
As part of the implementation of this task, the government decided to reorganise the non-profit joint-stock company M.H. Dulati Taraz Regional University and create two universities on its basis the non-profit joint-stock company M.H. Dulati Taraz University (NAO TarU) and the non-profit joint-stock company Kazakh National University of Water Management and Irrigation (NAO KazNUVHI). Educational institutions have been established with one hundred percent participation of the state in their authorised capitals.
Thus, a special educational institution will train highly qualified personnel for the water management and irrigation system on an ongoing basis.
New educational programs will be introduced in KAZNUVKHI "Water management and land reclamation", "Geodesy and cartography", "Hydraulic engineering in water management", "Engineering water supply systems", "Innovative technologies in water management".
It is planned that starting from September 1, 2024, the new university will be able to accept students within its walls.
For 2024-2025, a target quota of the state educational order for 245 places has been allocated for KazNUVHI (bachelor's degree 210, master's degree 20, doctoral degree 15).
The total contingent will amount to 4 thousand students for the entire training cycle.
