In Tünceli, 16 thousand 370 decares of agricultural land will be irrigated with solar energy

Following the completion of the pumping irrigation energy facility in Mazgirt district of Tunceli, 16 thousand 370 decares of agricultural land will be irrigated with the energy to be obtained from the solar energy.

In the statement made by the 9th Regional Directorate of State Hydraulic Works (DSİ), it was reminded that the pumping irrigation project was implemented in 2017 in order to expand agricultural activities in Akpazar town of the city. Within the scope of the project, it was decided to build a solar energy facility in 2021 in order to save producers from high invoice costs by meeting the energy needs: "The contract for the project was signed in 2022 and the operations have commenced. Designed with 1.2 megawatts of installed power, the one-year operation of the facility will be carried out under the contractor company after construction. This project, established in Akpazar, is also an example for the pumped irrigation irrigation energy facilities projects planned to be established by DSİ in pumped irrigation throughout Türkiye. The aim is to experience the pumped irrigation energy with the facility established here and to help our country pioneer in other projects to be carried out in the future accordingly."

Growers in Tünceli, would receive approximately 93 million liras more.

In the statement, it was reported that the pumping irrigation facility in Akpazar has a discharge of 72 meters, has been put into operation since 2017 and serves the country's economy with approximately 55 percent irrigated agriculture, and the following statements were made:

"Thanks to the facility, operating costs will decrease and yield will improve in 16 thousand 370 decares of land that has been provided with modern irrigation. With the transition to irrigated agriculture, our farmers will increase their earnings by planting various crops. Tuncelian growers will earn approximately 93 million liras more per year in 2023 rates."
