Thailand: inspection of the Dutch pear value chain
The auditor from the Department of Agriculture (DOA), Ministry of Agriculture and Cooperatives Thailand officially conducted the inspection on the Dutch pear value chain from September 8-10, 2023. The inspection by a Thai auditor is part of the market access protocol for exporting pears from the Netherlands to Thailand.
The delegation of auditors from Thai DOA are Mr. Chawalit Jittanun and Ms. Nutsuda Banlangsawan. The Thai auditor has meetings with Dutch counterparts for instance the Ministry of Agriculture, Nature and Food Quality, the Netherlands National Plant Protection Organization (NPPO), the Agricultural Inspection Agency (KCB), and the Fresh Produce Centre (the Dutch industry organization for fresh fruit & vegetable exporter and producer). The visit to Dutch pear growers and packing houses in Noord Holland, Gelderland, and Zeeland also NIVIP (National Reference Center) are included in the inspection program for the Thai delegation.
Thai auditors indicate the Dutch pear value chain is in line with the proposed import requirements for pears exported from the Netherlands to Thailand. However still some academic and official procedures are required by the Thai counterpart before the Plant Quarantine Committee of Thailand will have a say on the final approval. Stay tuned for the update.
