Romania: new investments in the grain sector

Grain trader Cereale Colect Distribution in Tulcea County has earmarked RON40 million (EUR0.8 million) for investments in 2021. The company intends to boost storage capacity by 40% to 300,000 tons and expand the vehicle fleet to 150, among others.

With a storage capacity of 300,000 tons, the company held by Romanian entrepreneurs Tase and Dina Mergeani should become one of the largest storage capacity businesses in the country, like the major foreign traders. Swiss-held Ameropa group has an about 600,000-ton storage capacity, while the grain trade market leader, China’s Cofco, has a capacity of about 300,000 tons, according to the latest data available to ZF.

Cereale Colect Distribution ended 2020 with RON432 million revenue, an increase of 3% year-on-year, and the number of employees went up 10% to 140, publicly available data show.

It also posted RON28.8 million profit, 2.5% more than in 2019.
