HPAI outbreaks in Poland
On December 4 and 5, 2020, the Chief Veterinary Officer received from the National Veterinary Institute - National Research Institute in Puławy positive laboratory test results confirming the occurrence of 3 outbreaks of highly pathogenic avian influenza (HPAI) of the H5N8 subtype in poultry.

These are outbreaks No. 35-37, detected on the territory of the Republic of Poland in the period from January 1 until December 6, 2020.
35 HPAI outbreak in 2020 and the third one in the second half of the year was found on 04/12/2020 on a farm with 176 871 laying hens, located in Komiłowo, Kobylnica commune, Słupsk poviat, Pomeranian Voivodeship.
The 36 outbreak of HPAI in 2020 and the fourth one in the second half of the year was found on 04/12/2020 on the farm where 72 394 turkeys were kept, located in Tarnow, in the Rakoniewice commune, in the Grodzisk poviat, in the Greater Poland Voivodeship.
The 37th HPAI outbreak in 2020 and the fifth in the second half of the year was recorded on 12/05/2020 at a farm keeping about 714,000 laying hens, located in Kiełpiny, Siedlec commune, Wolsztyn poviat, Wielkopolskie voivodeship.
In the second half of 2020, 5 HPAI outbreaks were found so far, the first (and 33 in the country) were confirmed on November 24, 2020, and the second (34 in country) - December 2, 2020.
In the first half of 2020, 32 HPAI outbreaks in poultry were reported, the last one was confirmed on March 31, 2020.
As of August 13, 2020, Poland regained the status of a country free from highly pathogenic avian influenza (HPAI).
