Romania: FMCG sales grow 31.1% since start of corona pandemic
In Romania sales of fast moving consumer goods grew a total 31.1% since the start of the corona pandemic until the end of March, according to market research firm Nielsen.
Sales of cleaning products grew 49.9%, personal hygiene product sales grew 40.7%, and food sales grew 39.5%, it said.
Due to traffic restrictions, sales grew in convenience stores, thus supermarket sales grew 36.1%, hypermarkets grew 25.4%, while cash&carry type, which also supply traditional retail, grew 34.5% compared with the same period last year.
