New HPAI outbreaks in Poland
Unfortunately, avian influenza keeps being noted in the commercial poultry farms in central Poland. Following our previous report, 2 new outbreaks were identified.
Outbreak No. 2020/28 was designated on the farm, where 275 geese, 67 ducks, approx. 650 broiler chickens and 3.380 laying hens and small chicks were kept. The farm is located in Radonia, in the Wielowieś commune, in the Gliwice district, in the Slaskie province. It is a farm located in a protection zone established around the outbreak No. 2020/21.
Outbreak 2020/29 was designated on a farm where 10.338 slaughter ducks were kept at the age of 12 days. The farm is located in the city of Łódź, in the Lodzkie Province.
Based on the results of tests received from the national reference laboratory for avian influenza so far 32 outbreaks of highly pathogenic avian influenza (HPAI) of the H5N8 subtype in poultry have been designated on the territory of the Republic of Poland. By 6 March 2020, the disease had been confirmed
in commercial poultry farms:
- 10 outbreaks at turkeys for fattening: 5 in Lubelskie province, 1 in Zachodniopomorskie province, 2 in Wielkopolskie province, 2 in Warminsko-Mazurskie province;
- 10 outbreaks in slaughter ducks in the following provinces: Lodzkie (5), Wielkopolskie (3), Opolskie (1) and Slaskie (1);
- 2 outbreaks of reproductive ducks in Wielkopolskie and Lodzkie provinces;
- 2 outbreaks in reproductive geese in Wielkopolskie and Slaskie provinces;
- 1 outbreak at guinea fowl in Lubelskie province;
- 1 outbreak at laying hens in Wielkopolskie province;
in backyard poultry farms:
- on 6 farms keeping chickens, ducks, geese and pigeons, in Lubelskie (2), Wielkopolskie (2), Dolnoslaskie (1) and Slaskie (1) provinces.
