New province in Poland affected with HPAI
Based on the results of tests obtained from the National Reference Laboratory for avian influenza, on 21 February 2020, a new outbreak of highly pathogenic avian influenza (HPAI) H5N8 in poultry was designated in the territory of the Republic of Poland.

No. 2020/19 was designated on a farm where 6.960 slaughter ducks were kept at the age of 2 weeks, located in the town of Kedzierzyn-Kozle, in the commune of Kedzierzyn-Kozle, in the Kedzierzyn-Kozle district, in the Opolskie province. This is the first outbreak of highly pathogenic avian influenza in this province.

The new outbreak is located close to Outbreak No. 2020/17 in Śląskie region designated on 29 January 2020 in backyard poultry farm.
