Airbus retaliation: USTR publishes a supplemental list on 1 of July
On 1 July 2019 the US Trade Representative published a supplemental list of products of 4 billion dollar to the original list of 8 April. The April list mentions 21 billion worth of European Union products on which to impose an extra tariff as retaliation for European aircraft subsidies, a WTO case that goes back to October 2004. With the supplemental list of 4 billion US-dollar the total amount of retaliation is 25 billion US dollar.
The US estimates that the value of the EU Airbus subsidies is US$ 11.2 billion in trade.
A final list of products may be drawn from both this supplemental list and the April 12 list. This final list will take into account the report of the WTO Arbitrator on the appropriate level of countermeasures to be authorized by WTO.
The value of Dutch agricultural products on the supplemental list is around US$ 175.26 million, more than double the original retaliation value of US$ 75,8 mln. bringing it in total to US$ 251,06 mln.
