Establishment of the Food and Drug Related Crime Investigation Bureau China

In response to this new situation, the Ministry of Public Security of the People's Republic of China established the Food and Drug Related Crime Investigation Bureau in May 2019 with the aim of strengthening the power of cracking down on food and drug crimes and safeguarding the national food supply.

Specialized food and drug investigation and investigation personnel are aptly called "food medicine (safety) police". In recent years, there have been pilot projects in Liaoning and Hebei, and achieved good results. Under the public security department, a special investigation team for food and drug violations will be set up to achieve a more effective attack on food and drug counterfeiting and selling, and the impact will be stronger. The Ministry of Public Security also said that the establishment of a special "food and drug police" at the national level, from the central to the local, the idea of establishing a professional law enforcement team that covers the whole country and crack down on illegal drugs and drugs has been brewing for several years. Mr. Lyu Wuqin, the director of the new Food and Drug Related Crime Investigation Bureau, said that after the establishment of the new bureau, it will actively work with relevant departments, such as intellectual property rights, ecological environment, forest resources, and biosafety to maintain a high-pressure situation in crimes of food and drug, and combat the crimes of manufacturing and selling fake and inferior commodities. Efforts will be made to make the sky bluer, greener, food and medicine safer, and people's lives more reassuring, and earnestly safeguard the seriousness of laws and regulations.
