Foreign direct investments rise 8.56pct in first 11 months of 2018
Foreign direct investments rose by 8.56pct in the first 11 months of 2018 compared to the similar period in 2017 to 4.842 billion euro, according to data from the National Bank of Romania (BNR), published on Monday.
"The non-residents' direct investments in Romania amounted to 4.842 billion euro (compared with 4.460 billion euro between January and November 2017), of which equity capital (including the net estimated reinvested profit) amounted to 3.771 billion euro and intra-group loans recorded the net value of 1.071 billion euro," the BNR release reads.
The number of newly-established foreign capital companies declined by 3.45pct compared with the same period in 2017 to 5,206 units in the first 11 months of 2018, according to data centralized by the National Trade Register Office (ONRC).
The 5,206 new companies had a subscribed capital of a total of about 46.69 million dollars, up 20pct compared to January-November 2017.
Between 1991 and 2017, as many as 215,651 foreign equity companies were set up, with the total subscribed capital being over 61.3 billion dollars.
On 30 November 2018, as many as 220,857 foreign-owned companies were registered in Romania, most of them, 47,081 specifically, with Italian capital, but the largest value of the share capital is that of Dutch companies, namely 12.718 billion dollars, in 5,249 companies.
