Romanian representatives learn from innovative Dutch fruit sector via PIB program
A group of representatives of the Romanian fruit sector participated in a visit to the Netherlands from 15-17 August on the occasion of the International Open Day at the “Proeftuin Randwijk”, the central place where independent and practice-oriented innovation and knowledge development for the Dutch fruit sector takes place.
Growers, consultants, leaders of research and education organizations and representative of the Romanian Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development joined a 2 day program combining market information and strategic approach.
The Dutch companies, members of the PIB Holland Fruit House (HFH), together with their strategic partner Wageningen University (WUR) presented the latest developments in the Dutch fruit sector, including technologies and modern management techniques.
Proeftuin Randwijk
Starting in a family-owned fruits shop located in the heart of an orchard, the visit included meetings with Dutch growers of apple, pear, cherry and soft fruits as well as visits of specialized logistic platforms and cooling centers. The Romanian delegation participated in the activities of the International Open Day at the “Proeftuin Randwijk”. Here they experienced hands-on demonstrations using various equipment for orchards maintenance and shared knowledge on research projects with Dutch experts. Given the already strong impact of the HFH in the Romanian fruit sector, a dedicated meeting was organized with the Dutch counterparts in Randwijk for reviewing common ideas for strengthening the strategic bilateral cooperation.
The activity was organized within the Partners for International Business initiative Holland Fruit House Romania with the support of the Netherlands Enterprise Agency (RVO.nl) the Ministry of Agriculture, Nature and Food Quality and the Embassy in Bucharest.
