Market Research on Pork Sector in Myanmar

It is reported that Myanmar’s growing economy and the rising of the middle class populations positively influence meat consumption including pork meat. Therefore, through this market research ‘Export Opportunities of Dutch Pork Meat to Myanmar’, the Netherlands aims to promote its bilateral cooperation with Myanmar in the field of exporting pork meat.

The report details the consumption, production and the structure of the pork meat supply chain in Myanmar based on the qualitative and quantitative findings from the desk research, field visits and interviews with key actors in the sector. The results provide a valuable overview for the potential Dutch pork meat exporters to Myanmar.

This sector research is performed by Margot Frima and Christian Brinks, students from the University of Groningen, Faculty of Economics and Business (IBR-Groningen) at assignment of the Netherlands Enterprise Agency (RVO) and agricultural desk of the Embassy of the Netherlands in Myanmar (LAN-YAN).
