Biobased Economy Seminar in Tokio trekt veel belangstelling
Op woensdag 5 september organiseerde de Innovatie-Afdeling in samenwerking met de Landbouwafdeling een seminar Biobased Economie over de Valorisatie van biomassa naar high-value producten. Nederland en Japan zijn beide afhankelijk van biomassaimporten en kunnen elkaar veel bieden op het gebied van torrefractie, biomass gestookte/CO2-neutrale kassen en andere hoogwaardige toepassingen. Naast een presentatie van Kees Kwant (Nl-vertegenwoordiger IEA-taskforce Bioenergy), presenteerden Prof. Martin Junginger (Universiteit Utrecht), Jaap Koppejan (Procede), Taizo Sano (SARA Inc.), Maarten Herrebrugh (Blackwood Technology) en Ken Kuriki (DSM Japan) aansprekende praktijkvoorbeelden. Zo bouwt SARA Inc. de grootste kas (10 ha.) in Japan waarvan de electriciteit, warmte en CO2 door een eigen biomassa centrale wordt geleverd.

Biomass fulfills a pivotal role in reduction of GHG emissions worldwide and contributes to a future proof circular economy at the same time. The Netherlands is a front runner in the development and implementation of biomass, from feedstock supply and processing to energy, biofuels but also high-end products in sectors such as food & feed, chemical products, and other non-food applications.
During the seminar Biobased Economy the Dutch ambitions for the biobased economy, its background and drivers were presented by representatives of the government, knowledge institutes and companies. They anwered questions related to the economic stakes, challenges, and technological innovations.
