Japan lifts import suspension on live poultry and poultry products from the Netherlands

The Japanese Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries (MAFF) has lifted the temporary suspension on the import of live poultry (chicken, quail, ostrich, turkey, pheasant, guinea fowl and birds classified into anseriformes order) and all poultry products (meat, eggs and their products) from the Netherlands as of 1 August 2018.

The following items are eligible for export from the Netherlands to Japan:

  • Live poultry that received export quarantine inspection in the Netherlands on and after 1 August 2018
  • Meat and meat products derived from poultry slaughtered on and after 1 August 2018 and their products
  • Eggs laid on and after 1 August 2018 and their products

For more information/clarification, Dutch exporters or their local agents are advised by MAFF/MHLW to consult AQS and Quarantine Station at the Japanese port of entry before shipment to Japan.
