Fall Army worm, action is needed
Kenya is potentially facing an enormous threat as the fall army worm has reached Kenya and neighboring countries.
An US government official warns that up to 50% of an annual maize crop can be destroyed by the fall army worm. The pest attacks maize but also millet, sorghum, cotton, sugar and additional crops. The caterpillar is already found in 12 African countries, and with the ability to fly over 100 km per day is thought to rapidly spread further. It is important to inspect your field on a regular bases as the pest rapidly spreads and damages the crop.
