Spain: Main Pescanova's competitor for sale
The Spanish venture capital firm Portobello Capital has put up for sale its 55% of the company Iberconsa, the major competitor of Pescanova in frozen fish.
Portobello has estimated the company at around 600 million euro, a figure considerably more bulky than the 120 million to which Portobello appraised it in December 2015.
Iberconsa, based in Vigo, is the world leader in capture and production of frozen hake and an important player in shrimp and prawn. It has an army of subsidiaries and fishing grounds in Argentina, Uruguay and Namibia, among others. It has 2,100 employees.
In 2017, Iberconsa had a turnover of about 320 million euro. Its sales were 206 million and its ebitda exceeded 60 million euro.
