Vietnam to establish national rice council for sustainable production and export

The Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, along with the Ministry of Industry and Trade, is set to soon present a proposal to the Government for the creation of a national rice council.

Minister of Industry and Trade Nguyễn Hồng Diên noted that rice production remains fragmented and lacks advanced technology, with exports heavily reliant on traditional markets, limiting diversification. He emphasized that the establishment of this council would lead to the development of robust and practical policies aimed at enhancing the value of Vietnamese rice and establishing it as a prominent global brand.

Vietnam's efforts to strengthen supply chains for sustainable organic agriculture

Organic agricultural products are becoming increasingly popular due to their sustainability, safety, and nutritional benefits.

The Vietnamese government has shown strong support for organic agriculture through several policies, including the 2022 Resolution No. 19-NQ/TW and Decree No. 109/2018/ND-CP, which promote green and circular agriculture. These efforts are part of a broader plan set out in Decision No. 885/QD-TTg for organic agriculture development from 2020 to 2030, aligning with global trends and Vietnam's agricultural restructuring policy.

Experts believe that achieving long-term success in organic farming will require effective collaboration among all stakeholders in the production system.
