Remove the bottlenecks in the wood industry supply chain
Vietnam's wood industry faces challenges around the legality and traceability of raw materials, crucial for exports to the US and EU.
The introduction of forest production unit codes, using the iTwood system and QR codes, aims to improve transparency and accountability. This system ensures wood’s legality from planting to processing, making it easier for businesses to meet international regulations.
Decree 120/2024/ND-CP has clarified the legal status of wood products, reducing risks in the supply chain. Digitizing wood traceability is key to unlocking the industry’s potential, facilitating access to global markets, and supporting sustainable forestry practices.
In the long term, the plantation area code will be an important input for activities such as granting sustainable forest management certificates, paying for forest environmental services, or adapting to strict international regulations such as EUDR (EU Deforestation-free Regulation).

Lam Dong and Westland Strengthen Horticultural Ties with LOI signed
A delegation from Lam Dong, Vietnam, visited the Netherlands on October 23 to strengthen horticultural ties with the Municipality of Westland. This visit followed a Dutch delegation to Lam Dong earlier this year, which laid the groundwork for a Letter of Intent (LOI) signed by Mayor Bouke Arends. The LOI aims to boost collaboration in food, flower, and plant production, with a focus on leveraging Dutch innovations and technologies. A seminar followed the signing, where both regions discussed opportunities for further cooperation. The visit was organized by the Netherlands Vietnam Horti Business Platform, Gemeente Westland, and Dutch Greenhouse Delta.
