Publicatie "2024 Global Controlled Environment Agriculture (CEA) Census"
Op 21 januari 2025 is de publicatie van het rapport “2024 Global Controlled Environment Agriculture (CEA) Census” aangekondigd, een datarijk rapport over de stand van zaken in de CEA- industrie, uitgebracht door Agritecture, CEAg World, en sponsoren Priva, TTS en Sollum.
Met input van meer dan 450 respondenten uit 75 landen, biedt de census van dit jaar een wereldwijd beeld van de innovaties, kansen en uitdagingen m.b.t. de toekomst van CEA. Veel Nederlandse bedrijven hebben meegewerkt aan deze studie, waarvan de volgende ‘key findings’ worden vermeld:
What’s Driving the CEA Industry in 2024?
- Growth on the Horizon: Over 84% of respondents plan to expand their production areas within the next 12–24 months, reflecting strong confidence in the future of CEA.
- Tech Adoption in Focus: The report highlights the increasing adoption of technologies like AI, automation, and IoT, alongside a surge in renewable energy integration.
- Dominance of Leafy Greens: Leafy vegetables remain the most cultivated crop, with 281 respondents reporting their production, emphasizing their short growth cycles and high market demand.
- SME Opportunities: Small and medium-sized CEA operators are actively looking to level up their technology. This presents a unique chance for suppliers to deliver affordable, tailored solutions that meet their needs.
- Sustainability in Action: Renewable energy use is gaining momentum, with solar energy adoption leading the way, particularly in Asia and North America.
