Why choose the Taiwanese Market?
Taiwan imports a significant portion of its food, particularly premium and innovative products. Dutch innovations in dairy, alternative proteins, and functional foods match Taiwanese preferences for healthy lifestyles, creating opportunities for business. Taiwan increasingly adopts sustainable practices, making Dutch expertise in eco-friendly production and packaging highly relevant. By tapping into Taiwan's vibrant Market and leveraging the Taipei Food Show's global reach, Dutch companies can significantly expand their Asian presence while showcasing their quality, innovation, and sustainability strengths.
According to a study by market trend research organization Worldpanel by Kantar, Taiwanese consumers purchase an average of 70 FMCG (Fast Moving Consumer Goods) brands annually, which is 15% higher than the global average. This shows that Taiwanese people are very particular about daily consumption, and more than 7,000 new food products will enter the market in 2023. As Taiwan's food orientation becomes more of a society with a shrinking middle class and growing economic disparity, in addition to cost-effectiveness, exotic ingredients contain consumption potential and attract consumers to experience it. In addition, food safety turmoil continues in Taiwan, and consumers attach great importance to food health and safety. Good brand stories, emphasis on ingredients' origin and nutritional content, and international professional certifications are the keys to entering the Taiwan food market.
