The Spanish Idilia Foods removes palm oil from its “Nocilla”
“Nocilla”, the Spanish competitor of “Nutella’, has been reformulated and launched without palm oil in its composition.
Idilia Foods starts a new stage by launching “Nocilla” without palm oil, from its Barcelona factory which was the subject of an investment of €15 million in order to promote this distruptive innovation regarding both “Nocilla” and the cocoa spread market.
The company has carried out the product reformulation by replacing the combination of sunflower oil and palm oil with high oleic sunflower oil and cocoa butter. The result is a palm oil free product and with 40% less of saturated fat.
“Nocilla” is sold in 40 countries and “has roots and an important presence in Bangladesh, its main foreing market, Saudi Arabia, Morocco and Libia”, its Director General says.
In 2017, Idillia Foods had a turnover of almost €178 million. Thanks alto to other brands such as “Cola Cao” and “Paladín” it ranks third in the national chocolate sector.
