Bidfood enters the Spanish horeca meat market
The giant Bidfood has acquired a majority stake of Sáenz Horeca, which means for the South African company to enter the Spanish meat market.
The Basque Sáenz Horeca is a cutting plant specialized in supplying to the horeca channel.
In April 2017, Bidfood already purchased 90% of Cutting’s & Guzman’s, marketers of fresh fruit and vegetables, gourmet foods, frozen products and ready-to-eat items.
With this two acquisitions, the South African company fulfills its objective of expanding its presence in countries with significant grow in the consumption of food out of home.
Recently it also acquired the Portuguese Frustock, a distribution company of fresh fruit and vegetables.
Bidfood ibérica reached a turnover of €111 million in 2017 and plans to reach €138 million in 2018. In addition, it is looking for business synergies though its subsidiaries in Italy and Czech Republic.
