Romania: dairy Artesana opens first glass waste collection center

Dairy company Artesana, owned by Alina and Daniel Donici, has opened the first glass waste collection center in the yard of the Comic Opera for Children in Bucharest, in partnership with Reciclad’OR.

People willing to recycle glass waste at Artesana center are requested to clean the glass bottles/jars first, to sort them by colors and to leave lids on the glass jars for protection during transportation, the company said in a statement.

“We want Artesana to become one of the largest independent players on the dairy market in three years and this objective also entails the fulfilment of the company’s social responsibilities. Recycling no longer is a desideratum for the future, but a need of the present moment.

Glass produced from recycled glass reduces air pollution by 20% and water pollution by 50%, compared with the glass produced from raw material,” said Miruna Popa, member of the Executive Board of Artesana on behalf of ROCA Investments.

With a turnover estimated at EUR4.3 million in 2021, the Artesana brand has been present on the Romanian market since August 2012. Its products are sold in over 700 stores across Romania, in most modern retail chains, as well as in local networks or specialized grocery stores.

Alina and Daniel Donici opened the first factory in August 2012, following an initial investment of nearly EUR750.000. The money was used to buy the land, the equipment and to rebuild and fit the existing building. In December 2020, private equity firm ROCA Investments became a shareholder in Artesana after buying 20% of its shares.
