Greek Olympus Invests EUR20M in New Dairy Production Line in Romania
Greek dairy producer Olympus, which entered Romania in 1999 and owns a dairy factory in Brasov county, central Romania, has invested over EUR20 million in a new production line and will launch a new brand of Greek yogurt, Stragghisto, on the local market.
The new type of yogurt is low on lactose and high in protein, the company said.
Olympus was the first dairy producer to launch Greek yogurt on the Romanian market, in 2011.
The factory in Halchiu, Brasov, has an area of 35,000 square meters, and a milk collection capacity of 75 tons an hour. The factory produces yogurt, fresh and UHT milk, cheese and sour cream.
Olympus exports part of the Romanian factory's production to Italy, Germany, Austria, UK, and Sweden. Olympus Group owns five factories in three countries (Greece, Romania, Bulgaria), producing a full range of dairy products and natural juices.
