Romania: third government reshuffle in one year
Romania’s Prime Minister has resigned after he lost the political support of his party – the Social-Democratic Party (PSD). The new Prime Minister Viorica Dancila was appointed last night. She became the first woman-Prime Minister in Romania’s history. It is expected that the new PM will probably keep the best performing former ministers in the new cabinet. Agriculture Minister Petre Daea is seen as one of the most efficient ministers, standing out in the first year of his term for the timely payment of agricultural subsidies and high rate of EU funds absorption. Therefore, continuity is expected regarding the top management of the Ministry of Agriculture and its policy.
