Plan of the Ministry of Agriculture for the Polish Presidency of the EU Council
From January 1, 2025, Poland will take over the Presidency of the Council of the European Union, during which time the new European Parliament will be constituted and new commissioners will start their work.
Polish Minister of Agriculture, Czeslaw Siekierski indicates that Poland will continue to push for the revision of the Green Deal's provisions in agriculture, as well as outline the direction in economic cooperation with Ukraine, which he believes will sooner or later be incorporated into the EU.
Locally, meanwhile, the ministry is working to sort out the subject of agricultural land leases so as to improve the functioning of farmers who participate fully in the market and are competitive. Siekierski notes that he has the proposals also include joint processing to turn more raw materials into biofuels.
