New HPAI outbreaks in the central Poland
Based on the results of tests received from the national reference laboratory for avian influenza, 30 outbreaks of highly pathogenic avian influenza (HPAI) of the H5N8 subtype in poultry were designated in 2019/2020 on the territory of the Republic of Poland.
Outbreak No. 2020/26 was designated on the farm, which kept 15.220 slaughter ducks aged from several days to 4 weeks. The farm is located in Kolonia Brużyca, in the commune of Aleksandrów Łódzki, in the Zgierz district, in the Lodzkie province.
Outbreak No. 2020/27 was designated on the farm, where 30.183 slaughter ducks were kept. The farm is located in Stara Ciświca, in the Grodziec commune, in the Konin district, in the Wielkopolskie province.
So far 8 provinces have been affected with HPAI in Poland:
- Lubelskie province: 8 outbreaks (last outbreak noted on 09.01.2020), mostly in commercial flocks of turkeys, part of it being secondary outbreaks; additionally 1 case in wild bird was identified;
- Wielkopolskie province: 10 outbreaks, mostly in commercial flocks of ducks, but also 1 outbreak noted in a commercial flock of laying hens;
- Zachodniopomorskie province: 1 outbreak on commercial turkey farm;
- Dolnoslaskie province: 1 outbreak;
- Warminsko-Mazurskie province: 2 outbreaks in commercial turkey farms;
- Slaskie province: 2 outbreaks;
- Opolskie province: 1 outbreak in commercial turkey farm;
- Lodzkie province: 5 outbreaks, all in commercial flocks of ducks and coincided with the insertion of new ducklings by the same entity.
In general the disease is noted mostly on commercial farms of turkeys or ducks, virus presently noted in the central area of Poland.
